Emailing: De-xo
ok, I've decided to start updating my blog again, w/ pictures that I draw while bored. I used to draw pictures like this on my PDA and then upload them to a website gallery I had in highschool, and now that I have the tablet, I figured "why not?" Anyway, I figure they are probably more interesting then real Blog posts, with "thoughts," "opinions," etc.
Incidentally, the title of the posts will always be "Emailing: " followed by some jibberish... the jibberish is what the software thinks the picture says (it parses it for text for a title). Anyway, here's a picture.

Knotastic!
So I've recently discovered the wonders of online knot tying tutorials. I can now tie several useful hitches and loops. Don't really have much interest in decorative ones, but I've made some neat useful things. I've got a neat belt that expands to about 27ft of 1700 lb rope.

Everybody's workin for the weekend + two weeks
So I quit my job, finally. While it was fun to ride around all the time, being behind the scenes in a fast food place is disgusting. And as the summer dragged on, the tip money dwindled more and more. My last day, I only made $12 in tips. "It was a learning experience," blah blah blah... I am so glad I'm going to medical school. Although I still don't think I would turn down a weekend messenger job in KC if I could land one... :-). If I can navigate Boston, I can surely navigate KC. Just look at the difference in those street layouts; Boston is preposterous.
On another note, I convinced this hipster, pierced, tattoo'd girl I worked with to start riding a bike, and helped her find one by sending her craigslist links. And another kid I worked with just converted to fixed gear. I'm spreading the biking gospel.
On a final note, our internet here is starting to suck big time. It cuts out like 3 times a minute, and is absolutely infuriating.

Dead and Rotting
"Any pile of organic matter will eventually rot, but a well-chosen site can help speed the process up."
I'm going to start composting in KC, I've decided.
Sweet.

WHO BUILT MY BIKE?
My bike makes no sense. Sold under circumstances that make it seem stolen, but no one in Boston has ever seen it before. Weird mix of extensive and cheapo parts, set up w/ unconventional angles. REAR BRAKE INSTALLED ON FRONT FORK, WITH ONLY ABOUT A MILIMETER OF METAL PREVENTING CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE. Learning more and more about my bike is like performing surgery on an anonymous patient, only to find that they had surgery before and the previous surgeon replaced their left kidney with a right one, removed their heart then replaced it in backwards, securing it in place with scotch tape and cellophane. Who had the technical knowledge to perform these procedures, but yet the ignorance or simple disregard for safety and convention to do them in this manner?! Also the patient doesn't speak English. And you were pretty sure at first that they were a drug mule, but to your surprise their insides are NOT packed with cocaine. And they have no fingerprints. And they're dressed in really nice clothes that are covered in stains. That's what my bike is like.
I Am The Brakeless Awesomer
So my brake basically fell off my bike the other day as I was attempting to tighten it. So now, I have got to be an awesome, hardcore, brakeles rider for a day or so until I get my brake situation figured out. I guess the plus side is I'll learn some new panic stop techniques, maybe.

duh duh duh duh duh duh duh
So today, one of the other drivers at the Wings place, Adolfo, who's from El Salvador, put on this GIGANTIC chicken costume, and handed out menus to people on the street. Could not have been more family guy-esque, unless he was handing out expired coupons. Anyway, the manager sent him "up the street, to that park with all the kids in it" to go promote the restaurant. As soon as he was out the door, people were gawking and almost getting in car wrecks. The humor of the situation is compounded by the fact that Adolfo speaks highly imperfect English, so any questions that were addressed to him would most likely have been misunderstood and almost certainly answered with an unintelligible response. Man, it was funny.

allegedly overheard in new york
Kid #1: Paper beats rock. BAM! Your rock is blowed up!
Kid #2: "Bam" doesn't blow up, "bam" makes it spicy. Now I got a SPICY ROCK! You can't defeat that!
===
Dumb teen: Hey, look at this! It says "Train for jobs in biotch."
Smarter teen: Fool! That word is biotech. Why you gotta be ignorant all your life?
===
Guy, staring at girl: You look like someone I know.
Girl: It's me.
Guy: Oh, hi Alexis. You look different at eight in the morning.
===
Asian chick: Like you've ever even seen a baby prostitute.
===
Teen girl: It was the saddest thing ever. It was almost as sad as watching a baby cough.
===
Teen girl: I'm not saying I wish I had a penis. It would just be nice to be able to pee standing up.
Teen guy: Peeing standing up is a lot like eating grapefruit... One wrong move, and you could squirt yourself in the eye.
Teen girl: Oh my god... seriously?
===
Little boy: I can't wait to get home so I can scratch my crotch!
===
Little boy: Why didn't Harry Potter just take a shotgun and blow that guy's head off?
===
Two kids are looking at the Dove ad campaign showing Hanna-Barbera characters with new hairdos.
Kid #1: Yo, look at that Jetsons mom's hair.
Kid #2: What's the Jetsons?
Kid #1: You don't know the Jetsons? Dem's those niggas that live in space.

my sweet lord

Watch the two "new" ones. I have much to learn in my delivering, it seems.

Weigh in starts at 5pm
Today was tremendously hot and humid; I probably sweated off a couple of pounds. Thankfully, the extreme sweatiness and helmet probably combined to increase my pity tips.
Also: I'm not longer homeless; my parents were kinda enough to drive up to KC and look at houses that they and I had found on Craigslist... they found one that is better than the one I WAS going torent in every way. Highlights include: (1) Gas stove (so I can actually stir-fry things the proper way, over an open flame) (2) Dishwasher (3) Pets are OK (the landlords actually foster cats as a hobby, and are eager to help me find a good cat to adopt) (4) Easily walkable/bikeable to the school (5) Garage. AWESOME. Pics to come maybe?
Enough self-indulgent ranting though. Onto some self-indulgent teaching! Please read up on the following Interesting Things:
1. The only man to have his head caught in a particle accelerator beam and live to tell about it.
2. Migaloo, Humphrey, Delta, and Dawn: Famous Humpback Whales.
3. A Preposterous Track Bike.
4. Catastrophic Frame Failure.
