Back TUVA Future: Ondar in Vladivostok

And, of course, when it rains it pours. I just posted about Throat Singing, and now this shows up on BoingBoing.

I don't like it, but just goes to show, that like I said, when it rains it pours.
Sometimes I feel like I'm in touch with a larger phenomenon somehow.

Stuntin' Like Even Knievel, Man

So, I got the bright idea to take the Raleigh off of a pretty huge ramp. I came down really hard on the front end and knocked the front wheel outta true preeeetty bad. I'm gonna take it to ACME tomorrow and see if they can get it fixed back up. Pretty angry at myself. But, the picture is pretty sweet though.

Overtone Singing

This is one aspect of Tuvan throat singing. Awesome. I will learn to do this.

*edit* I've been practicing this as well as the traditional gutteral aspects of throat singing. My throat HURTS. Going to sleep now, hopefully I didn't give myself a vocal nodule.

*edit* I just realized it's exactly like the didgeridoo, but instead of your lips vibrating it's your vocal cords... but the overtones are the way you get different sounds from a didj. So, I can't do it yet, but I can hear hints of overtones in there. Woohoo : )

Thanksgiving, here I come

Come November, I will be giving thanks for THIS:
And all of my Nerfenemies will be giving thanks for a quick Nerfdeath.... if I choose to grant them that.

Shawnee Mission Park

Took the Raleigh out on the trails today. First 5 minutes on the trail, I realized the front wheel was a bit loose, and then broke the quick release skewer while tightening it down. So, one hour later, after hiking out with the bike, driving to the nearest bike store and getting a new QR, I actually got to really ride. Rode for about an hour and fifteen minutes really hard. It was a blast.
